Infographic: Sexual Behavior of Chinese Youth

First sexual encounters in China are apparently happening earlier, and getting worse. From its official Weibo account (@杜蕾斯官方微博), Durex shared the below image yesterday morning comparing the sexual behavior of Chinese youth from 2006 to 2011. It showed that more are losing their virginity before 18, while fewer are feeling love (or even pleasure) when they do. One upside: Perhaps due to better sex education, far fewer are worried about unplanned pregnancy.

Although Durex did not share the source of the graphic’s information, netizens who commented on the infographic seemed to agree. “Age is going down, happiness and sexual satisfaction are also going down” wrote one. Another, not so lucky in (early) love, mused, “I am dragging up my country’s [averages].”

One netizen noticed, “A company is doing this kind of research. What is our Family Planning Commission or Ministry of Education doing?”

Gosh, just a few (7 or 8) years ago my parents were seen as racy for holding hands in small-town Hubei, and now it’s like the summer of love in China. Social values change fast.
